Finance Manager (Full-Time)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Partners of a mid-sized Regina law firm, the Finance Manager is a key member of the leadership team responsible for the Firm’s financial operations, reporting, controls, budgeting, payroll, and law firm accounting requirements.

The successful candidate will provide strategic financial leadership while maintaining hands-on oversight of day-to-day accounting, cash flow, compliance, and staff support.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting, Reporting and Controls

·         - Lead the Firm’s accounting and financial management functions, including financial controls, policies, procedures, and continuous improvement.

·         - Maintain the general ledger, supporting schedules, bank and trust reconciliations, and month-end/year-end working papers.

·         - Prepare financial statements and corporate tax filings and coordinate year-end reporting with external accountants and auditors.

·        -  Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, government remittances, filings, and regulatory compliance.

Budgeting, Cash Flow and Planning

·         - Prepare annual budgets and forecasts for the Firm and related companies.

·         - Monitor results against budget, analyze variances, and report meaningful financial insights to the Partners.

·         - Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational and Partner requirements.

Payroll and Compensation

·         - Oversee payroll accuracy, timeliness, regulatory compliance, and related policies.

·         - Support lawyer, staff, Counsel, and Partner compensation, distributions, and benefit-related administration.

Law Firm Operations and Leadership

·         - Monitor financial performance and provide analysis and recommendations to the Partnership.

·         - Oversee client billing, collections, work-in-progress, Partner reporting, and Law Society trust accounting requirements.

·         - Lead, train, develop, and support accounting and payroll staff to meet operational objectives.

Qualifications

·         - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

·         - CPA designation completed or in progress preferred.

·         - Minimum 3–5 years of accounting, budgeting, analysis, and reporting experience.

·         - Experience overseeing finance/accounting operations and full-cycle payroll.

·         - Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, cash flow management and regulatory compliance (payroll/employment standards legislation, GST/PST and income tax remittances).

·         - Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel; experience with legal accounting or practice management systems, including PCLaw, is an asset.

·         - Law firm or professional services experience is an asset.

·        - Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; professional and client service focused.

·         - Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Partners and Firm leadership.

Employment Details

·         Position Type: Full-Time

·         Location: 1000 – 2002 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK

·         Reports To: Partners

·         Salary Range: Starting at $80,000 to $95,000, dependant on qualifications
