RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Legal Director, some of the key responsibilities of the lawyer are:
☐ Conduct of assigned files to professional standards and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Legal Aid Saskatchewan & the Law Society of Saskatchewan
☐ Conduct preliminary inquiries, pre-trials, case conferences, trials, reviews & appeals
☐ Negotiate competent resolutions of files to achieve fair, early and lasting outcomes for clients
☐ Work independently on cases as assigned by the Legal Director
☐ Complete and accrue time entry and record keeping

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
☐ Experience in criminal law and/or experience in family law
☐ Law degree from a recognized law school
☐ Member in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan
☐ Technologically savvy with a keen enthusiasm for learning new systems including, computer literacy in MS Office, web-based legal research tools, and other web-based resources.
☐ Commitment to social justice and an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by low-income and marginalized communities
☐ Demonstrated time management and ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines

COMPENSATION
☐ The salary range for the position is $90,466.05 to $185,851.64 per annum, based on experience
☐ The incumbent is entitled to 3 weeks off vacation plus 12 SDOs and 14 Statutory Holidays
