CBA-SK is pleased to announce that Leah Howie, Law Reform Commission of Saskatchewan will be joining our Board of Directors as Treasurer for the 2026-2027 term, effective September 1, 2026. We are also excited to share that Leah will advance to the role of President for the 2028-2029 term.

Leah has served as Director of the Law Reform Commission of Saskatchewan since 2016, leading the Commission’s work to modernize and simplify Saskatchewan law in collaboration with the legal profession. In this role, she has valued ongoing engagement with the CBA and its members on a range of law reform projects. She has also taught at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law for the past decade, where she currently offers a law reform seminar and coaches the environmental law moot team.
Since 2018, she has been an active member of the Saskatchewan Access to Justice Network, working with justice system partners across the province to advance access to justice. She is also President of the Federation of Law Reform Agencies of Canada, a member of the University of Saskatchewan’s Biomedical Research Ethics Board, and serves on the Law Society of Saskatchewan’s Hearing Committee Adjudication Roster.
Leah has longstanding ties to the CBA, including serving on the Bar Notes editorial board since 2017 and contributing to section meetings, Mid-Winter sessions, and the CBA Saskatchewan Branch’s 2024 International Women’s Day event.
She is committed to supporting a legal profession that is diverse, healthy, and equipped to meet emerging challenges from generative AI to professional wellbeing to equitable access to justice. She looks forward to working with colleagues across the profession to advance these priorities on behalf of CBA members.
