Saskatchewan Committees
Under the leadership of the Editor, this dynamic committee collaborates with the Executive Director to curate compelling topics, engage contributors, and carefully review and refine articles for publication. With a commitment to diverse representation, committee members serve two-year terms and bring perspectives from Saskatoon, Regina, and at least one rural area. Together, they ensure BarNotes reflects the voice and expertise of Saskatchewan’s legal community.
This committee champions awareness and action on equity issues within the legal profession, driving forward initiatives and strategies on behalf of the Saskatchewan Branch. Led by a Chair and supported by at least two additional CBA Saskatchewan members, the committee fosters meaningful conversations and implements impactful programs to promote inclusivity. Each year, it delivers a comprehensive report to the Board and members, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Led by the LLR Director and supported by Section LLR representatives, this committee plays a pivotal role in advancing the Saskatchewan Branch's mission to enhance the law and the administration of justice. With a focus on meaningful reforms, the committee actively engages in discussions and initiatives that shape the legal landscape and support the evolving needs of the profession and the public.
Tasked with shaping our premier annual event, the Mid-Winter Conference, this committee is led by a Chair appointed by the CBA-SK Board of Directors. Together, the Chair and volunteers collaborate to design impactful professional development sessions, thoughtfully selecting topics and securing engaging speakers. This committee plays a key role in making the Mid-Winter Conference an invaluable experience for all attendees.
Charged with shaping the leadership of CBA-SK, this committee identifies, recruits, and encourages candidates to stand for elections or appointments to the Board, committees, and Provincial Council. Composed of dedicated Board members and two representatives from Council, the Nominating Committee ensures diverse perspectives and exceptional talent are brought to key roles, helping to drive the organization forward.
Focused on ensuring the integrity and relevance of governance, this group reviews and advises on branch bylaw amendments. Their work upholds the foundational structure and principles that guide the Saskatchewan Branch's operations.
This forward-thinking group explores key trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the business and practice of law. By identifying, monitoring, and analyzing emerging issues, they help drive innovation within the profession. Led by a Chair and supported by at least four CBA-SK members, this team works collaboratively to position the legal community for success in an evolving landscape.
Dedicated to advancing reconciliation within the legal profession, this committee prioritizes education and training for CBA-SK members while promoting Indigenous leadership. Co-chaired by an Indigenous and non-Indigenous member, along with three additional members, the group works collaboratively to develop and refine recommendations that align with the Truth & Reconciliation Action Plan, fostering meaningful progress and understanding across the profession.
